My Coaching Philosophy

I believe great coaching starts with clarity: assess first, act second.
With over 25 years in elite sport, from Olympic and professional environments to private practice, and as a Director of the UK Strength & Conditioning Association (UKSCA), I’ve built my practice on one principle—make decisions based on objective information, not guesswork.

Assess → Diagnose → Prescribe

I begin by testing what matters: movement quality, force production, asymmetries, capacity, and tolerance. This gives us a clear picture of where you are today—then we diagnose what’s limiting performance (or recovery) and prescribe training that directly targets those priorities.

Objective‑Led Programming

Every programme I write has defined outcomes, meaningful checkpoints, and measurable progress. Whether the goal is injury rehabilitation, athletic development, or health and longevity, we use the right tools at the right time—so each session moves you closer to where you want to be.

Flexible Delivery, Fixed Direction

Training should adapt to how you respond in real time—not the other way around. I’ll adjust loads, volumes, and exercise choices based on your data and day‑to‑day readiness while keeping the end goal non‑negotiable.

Evidence + Experience

I combine evidence‑based methods with real‑world coaching experience from high‑performance sport and private coaching. My role is to turn complex information into simple, actionable plans you can trust—and to deliver them with clarity, calm, and consistency.

Why choose me?

With over 25 years of experience across more than 30 sports, I’ve supported athletes through two Olympic cycles and worked extensively in both professional and international performance environments. Alongside elite sport, I have a deep background in coaching the general population, ageing populations, adolescents, and women seeking strength‑focused training. I am a UKSCA‑accredited coach, tutor, assessor, and director, a qualified Mental Health First Aider, and a UKAD educator. My work also includes authoring several publications within the fields of performance and rehabilitation.
